PERSONAL BIO

Dr. Unkart is a native Californian who specializes in general surgery and public health. He performs emergency and elective surgical procedures. When feasible, he uses minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic techniques to operate on the stomach, small intestine, colon, appendix, rectum/anus, gallbladder, breasts, hernias and skin.

Dr. Unkart conducted extensive research in breast cancer and participated in multiple clinical trials investigating the use of different imaging agents to minimize the amount of healthy tissue removed during cancer surgery. Dr. Unkart has a passion for health equity and ending healthcare disparities affecting minority populations and researched demographic, social and metabolic factors that limit healthy aging and access to health care.

 

While not in the hospital, you can find Dr. Unkart on the local trails training for his next running race or playing pickleball with his wife and friends.
